In recent study, Reported proximal impacts (those occurring as a direct result of the symptoms of nasal polyps) could be divided into 3 categories: Sleep impacts , Physical functioning impacts and Impacts on activities of daily living

Impacts on activities of daily living included limiting and disrupting daily routines , a need to be always prepared and need for more awareness of their personal and environ¬mental hygieneNighttime awakenings , tiredness/fatigue ), and impacts associated with blowing the nose (eg, having to blow the nose often, experiencing nasal irritation, or being unable to blow their nose were the most frequently reported proximal impacts. Distal impacts (those occurring as a result of the con¬dition as a whole) were reported on emotional well-being, treatment, social life, and work categories The most frequently reported distal impacts were feelings of annoyance or frustration  and having to take time off work. Concept saturation was achieved for all key impacts.

For symptoms of Nasal polyps, these were nasal congestion symptoms, breathing difficulty through the nose , head/facial pressure , postnasal drip , loss of taste, loss of smell , headache, ear pressure , and dizziness . For impacts, these were the recurrent need for surgery for polyp regrowth , ability to carry out physical functioning with increased ease/comfort , sleep disturbance , the need for medication , lack of energy , ability to concentrate, dry mouth , and ability to blow their nose
